Waterman Crusader Pen and Pencil Set Full Flex to 2.76mm comes with extra lead (.9mm)

This listing is for a waterman crusader with a large #5a ideal nib. These were some of the last-hand ground, mass-produced nibs made. The pencil opens up with a still working double-sided eraser. Extra lead is held in the section beneath the eraser, much as modern mechanical pencils do today. I have serviced this pen: replaced the ink sack, cleaned the pen and feed, and tuned and wheat set the nib.

The pen has been used by me for at least a week to ensure it does not leak and is in full working order. 0 -wet noodle (brause rose nib for comparison) - takes practice to not flex on the downstroke, can be temperamental. 1- wet noodle (leonardt principal maybe)- takes a light hand to use correctly. The slightest pressure opens the tines. Easier to not flex on the downstroke, this nib is still like a paintbrush.

Good for a daily writer if you have a light hand. 4 full flex daily writers. You can write a letter with it one second and do some calligraphy the next. 5- same a 4 but with a bit more intent to produce full line variation.

6 the start of semi-flex. Slightly more difficult to use with continuous flex (every downstroke) and takes some pressure to get it to fully flex. Flex becomes hard around curves.

7- continuous flex becomes hard around curves (suitable for spencerian). Can dig into cheap paper when flexing. 8 - continuous flex becomes very difficult. Will dig into cheap paper and occasionally good writing paper (ie rhodia). Many pens from the 50's have this lousy flex. Only good for accenting cursive with some minor shading. I only have a very few of these for sale. Might produce very minor line variation with heavy pressure. I don't sell nails atm but if i do, it will come with a clear warning. This item is made of bchr, black chased hard rubber, 14k and 14k gold.
