Vintage Torpedo Shaped Faber Castell 883 fountain pen, Two tone gold 14K 585 EF Nib, Wonderful gift

Vintage torpedo shaped faber castell 883 fountain pen. Year of production: early to mid 1950s. The build quality, the precision, the compactness of the fitted parts is extraordinary and palpable. The pen has that familiar floating line of that 50s german design, very similar to the pelikan 400. Made out of celluloid, and in between the black stripes on the barrel, the amber colour celluloid can be seen making the barrel transparent.

The beautiful osmia logo is located on the top as a crown, as well as on the nib. Gold plated wide ring and clip has some wear off gold. The pen has a superb piston filling system. Simple, yet powerful as the pelikan piston filler. Most importantly the pen is in very nice condition, gently cleaned, fill and write tested, ready to work, hard to believe it was made close to 70 years ago.

No cracks, dents or teeth marks, only light scratches as cosmetic issues. Wonderful writing instrument to be enjoyed every day. Fountain pen measures 127,5mm capped and 117,8mm uncapped.

Threading is clear and the cap threads snugly to the barrel with no grit or wobble. Fountain pen has been serviced, fills perfectly, and is ready to write.
