SWAN Mabie Todd 3161 Self Filler Fountain Pen c1940's

Early 40's, vintage swan 3161 self filler fountain pen late 1940's. Manufactured by mabie todd &co. Overall, in excellent order throughout and made to very high standards of quality. The cap is in very good condition.

The "ball-end" gold plated clip has the swan logo at its top and is very securely in place. The single gold plated cap ring also in great condition. The cap tightens up and posts very securely on to the barrel. The barrel in good condition with solar discoloration where the cap has covered the section. There is some pitting evident to the gold lever filler.

"This early model has the brass threaded nib section". A replacement blackbird comb feed has been fitted in the past (but it comes from the mabie todd stable). The high quality original "stubby" gold nib is "medium" tipped. Mabie todd & co ltd. Very little flex with plenty of iridium on show which writes smoothly and well. The barrel is in good condition and has the swan logo with. Swan mabie todd & co ltd. The pen has been fully- serviced, re-sac'd and is in excellent working condition. Overall not top drawer but, a nice, "swan" self filler with a firm medium tipped nib. Manufactured by the great mabie todd company, in excellent condition. A very collectable and usable pen. Showing only wear commensurate with usage and age.

And has been test filled and then flushed clean and finally, given a light polish. Pen size is 13 cm capped and 15.8 cm posted.
