As the name eludes, the cap is styled after a crown evoking images of royalty while the clip is tapered and sleek, containing a clear swarovski crystal at the tip. The top of the cap and the butt end of the pen have an embossed sun which is highlighted with 22kt gold plating. The bands that frame the top and bottom of the cap evoke images of flowing water. Tiger oak is created by using a specific milling process called quarter sawing. Quarter sawn lumber, mostly oak, produces its outstanding pattern by cutting across the medullary rays, which run horizontally carrying water and nutrients from the heartwood to the sapwood of the tree.

When a log is quarter cut it exposes these rays as flecks or flakes. These flecks are called tiger's eyes or cat's eyes. The spalting process is one where fungi are introduced to a piece of wood, usually of lighter color, which will create a completely random pattern of darker streaks in the grain.

This process also decomposes the wood, and therefore requires a stabilization process to make it usable in woodworking again. Pen set comes in a large rosewood case (included in price).
