Ultrasonically cleaned and hand polish of the components. This working 1936 golden pearl pattern fountain pen has a lock down filler with a new sac and it is 120mm cap closed and 145mm cap posted in lengths.
At 87 years of age it does have patination and wear from this and use over time, as shown in the close up pictures; which are part of the description. It has; parker vacumatic, made in canada. The components on this pen are vintage and are in good condition.
The filling unit with a new diaphragm works nice and smoothly. The imprint on the barrel is legible but worn.Parker stopped making this model of vacumatic in 1948 in the usa and 1953 in canada. This 1930s vac has the original parker high quality 14ct "golden arrow" nib. Parker nibs are very high quality and this one is no exception. Tine alignment is spot on - about as good as it gets.
The trim is gold-filled and i don't see any brassing on the cap bands. The pocket clip is a military style and looks super and is nice and tight on the cap. The cap and blind cap are good & have a nice sheen, the trim really shines too.
Overall, a very nice example. Parker made the vacumatic in many sizes, both length and girth - typically the most common were the debutante (smallest), standard, major, and over-sized (later changed to maxima), and a few others as well the vacumatic had a long and prosperous run but over the course of the models run. This is an excellent vacumatic "slender" and will make a great addition to any fountain pen collection with a super sheen and gorgeous trim. This item is made of celluloid, gold clip, gold nib, vacumatic and gold bands.
