Engraved wood fountain pen.
This wood has to have one of the best grain patterns that i have ever worked with. This bocote wood fountain pen has been completed using 303-grade steel components and a bock steel nib for a truly wonderful writing experience.
The wood has been finished with a beeswax so that you still have the wonderful tactile feel of the wood. The steel components compliment the wood perfectly and for me, they act as a frame showing off its beauty.

Bocote, like its close relative ziricote, is a very beautiful wood with a unique appearance. The heartwood is an attractive yellowish-brown overlain with distinctive black lines giving the wood an active and striking figure. Subtle birdseye figures can appear and when quarter cut, bright ray flakes shimmer on the surface. Botanical considerations aside, appearance and workability are the properties desired by craftspeople. Harvesting occurs mostly in mexico and other countries of central america.
Some of the logging is done selectively with mules, which helps maintain a sustainable resource by avoiding clear-cutting. A piece is selected from seasoned wood for its grain and colour. They are carefully cut to show the best grain. The wood is turned to size then sanded through 5 different grits of sandpaper.It is then rubbed with danish oil to bring out the beautiful grain then rubbed with a beeswax mix before completing with the premium fittings.
