Artisan Fountain Pen in Mexican Cocobolo

Fine example of mexican cocobolo (dalbergia retusa) which has been fully lined with a black acrylic. Cocobolo is a hardwood, found throughout central america. The tree can grow to a height of 60 feet with a girth of 2 feet. Cocobolo can be seen in a kaleidoscope of colours - yellow, orange, red and shades of brown with streaks of black and purple.

The wood has a high oil content which lends itself to a minimal finishing process, essentially just working through grits (to 12000) to produce a highly polished surface. This pen is large at around 168mm in length. The cap is single threaded and can be removed within 2.5 turns. The section has a slight centre dip, allowing a good grip for your fingers. The cap and barrel has a step of around 0.5 mm. The pen uses a bock nib (#6 or 250) and is shown here with a black lacquer nib (f).

You may request any other bock nib, at no further cost (save for the precious metal nibs :-). The final image above shows the various options of pen cases available at no further cost - the wood cases are turned to fit the pen, whilst the black box is pretty standard. The wooden cases have a friction fit cap, and can be turned from most hardwoods. The image shows examples of cases in walnut (darker) and olive ash (smaller), but other woods such as ash, beech or oak could be used.

Finally the pen is supplied with an ink convertor, an international ink cartridge and a roll stop which will be turned from a matching or contrasting acrylic or wood. Type -large artisan fountain pen. Nib - bock #6 / 250. Closed length - 168 mm. Open length - 157 mm.
