Handmade Fountain Pen Cocobolo
This fountain pen features a body made of beautifully figured cocobolo wood. Cocobolo is a dense, tropical hardwood found in central america. A true rosewood, cocobolo is a deep, rich brown with elements of gold and red in color. Naturally oily, cocobolo polishes to a beautiful, lustrous shine. The body of the pen has been carefully hand-assembled to ensure alignment of the grain on this beautiful wood. The pen has been hand-turned on my lathe and sanded to a glass-like smoothness. It has been satin-finished with a mix of oils and waxes that allow the natural beauty of the wood to shine. Over time, and with use, the natural oils in your hand will yield a striking patina. The figure and color of the cocobolo in this pen body pair beautifully with the luxurious hardware. The fittings are rhodium plated. The accents in the finials and center-band are hand-cast, solid 22k gold, and are set-off by the golden streaks in the grain. The nib is a medium-point, german-manufactured nib.
Capped, the pen measures approximately 5.25 inches long. Uncapped, the pen is approximately 5 inches long unposted and 6.5 inches long with the cap posted. The body is approximately 14.5mm at its thickest point. The section is 9.0mm at its thickest and narrows to a diameter of approximately 7.9mm.
